| 説明 | Artist: Helen Canfield------------------------------------(Original artwork given by Helen Canfield to Taylor Hoskins. Donated by Taylor Hoskins to the Mammoth Cave National Park Association.)------------------------------------"In September 1946, Mammoth Cave National Park was dedicated by Alben W. Barkley, a vice president of the United States and a Kentuckian. In October 1946, this park was the site of a nationwide National Park Service superintendents' conference - events long-awaited due to World War II. The above etching is the work of Helen Canfield, a renowned artist and wife of the superintendent of Rocky Mountains National Park. Each superintendent in the boat distinctly represents a national park. The blind fish and mummy greet them as they curiously sail in on Echo River to welcome Mammoth Cave into the National Park System. This etching became the pictorial memento of these events and was gifted by the artist to the first superintendent of Mammoth Cave National Park, R. Taylor Hoskins." |
