| 説明 | U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) National Agriculture Quarantine Inspection Coordinator Robert Griffin look at the first cherry blossoms along the Tidal Basin near the Hungry Pests photo booth and information tent, an awareness campaign about 19 invasive pests highlighted on the Hungry Pests.com website, during the Cherry Blossom Festival, in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, March 23, 2017. The pink buds may blossom on Saturday, and the green ones in about a week. The photo booth allows visitors to take fun photos that help them to remember and share information that APHIS volunteers have told them about these invasive species that can be easily spread by people. It only takes one person to accidently spread Hungry Pests by moving firewood, plants, produce or even items stored outside to new areas. Everyone can help stop Hungry Pests by looking for and reporting signs of them at HungryPests.com. They threaten our economy, environment and, in some cases, even public health. For example, the Emerald Ash Borer beetles (are deep green and the size of a penny) have destroyed 1/5 of U.S. ash trees. Please go to HungryPests.com for simple tips you can follow to help keep Hungry Pests from spreading. USDA, Department of the Interior (DOI) National Park Service (NPS), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other partners are working hard to fight invasive pests. But we can't do it alone. Please see USDA & USNPS TEACH INVASIVE PEST AWARENESS AT CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL at www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLkymj4_0GA USDA Photo by Lance Cheung. |
