| 説明 | Most people say 'Cape where?' as did I when my darling spouse suggested it as a holiday destination for Feb half-term hols.It is a archipelago of volcanic islands ~200km off the coast of Senegal, West Africa. Think Canary Islands but a bit further south. They are largely barren rocks. A few old volcanos, some still active. But the island of Sal is dry, hot and largely a barren waste of scrub and sod all else. But they are being developed as a holiday location due to their favourable year-round climate. They are also in the similar time zone to Western Europe. And the beaches are pleasant too. There was a time when the Red Sea coast was similarly being developed. But then they started killing tourists. So I think few people go there now.Reassuringly, there were few signs of murderous locals. Outside of the all-inclusive hotel complex, there were few signs of anything really. Except other white westerners enjoying a bit of winter sun.So don't go there for the culture. Or the sight-seeing. But do go to relax, read books and drink cocktails by the pool. |
