| 説明 | Downstream view of ponderosa pines and willows surrounding the Chewaucan River after a winter snow, Feb. 23, 2017, by Greg Shine, BLM.Located about a mile southwest of the town of Paisley in central Oregon, the Chewaucan River Canyon offers superb opportunities for picnicking, wildlife viewing, fishing, hiking, and camping off the beaten path. The BLM manages about 3.5 miles of the Chewaucan River, just downriver from the Fremont-Winema National Forests, including two primitive riverside campgrounds –one above and one below the confluence of the river and Mill Creek –that offer first-come, first-served camping.Native Great Basin redband trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss newberri) frequent the river here, passing their way from upstream waters through the Paisley town weir to the Chewaucan Marsh - and back.To visit, enter the town of Paisley from Hwy 31 and turn west onto Mill Street. Follow it west for about 1.5 miles. The BLM-managed area ends just south of the confluence of Juniper Creek, and resumes after about a half mile before ending at the national forest boundary just north of Coon Hollow.Contact: Bureau of Land Management, Lakeview District 1301 South G StreetLakeview, OR 97630541-947-2177BLM_OR_LV_Mailbox@blm.govwww.blm.gov/visit |
