| 説明 | The Rudolfinum (also know as the House of Artists, or Dům umělců), completed in 1884, is Prague's premier concert hall. In 1918, it became the Parliment until the Nazis turned it back into a concert hall. There is a legend that says that a statue of Mendelssohn was ordered to be removed for his Jewishness but the workmen having no idea what Mendelssohn looked like put their racial stereotypes to work and removed the figure with the largest nose-- which turned out to be Richard Wagner, a beloved German composer. The Rudolfinum is home to the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. |
