| 説明 | From left, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) Dorothy C Wayson and PPQ Senior Regulatory Policy Specialist Grace OâKeefe have fun as they react to an illustrated creature that incorporates the pests that they have volunteered to help inform the visitors of the Cherry Blossom Festival, at the Tidal Basin, in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, March 23, 2017. The campaign highlights the 19 pests seen on the HungryPests.com website. People can easily unintentionally spread invasive species. It only takes one person to accidentally spread Hungry Pests by moving firewood, plants, produce or even items stored outside to new areas. Everyone can help stop Hungry Pests by looking for and reporting signs of them at HungryPests.com. They threaten our economy, environment and, in some cases, even public health. For example, the Emerald Ash Borer beetles (are deep green and the size of a penny) have destroyed 1/5 of U.S. ash trees. Please go to HungryPests.com for simple tips you can follow to help keep Hungry Pests from spreading. USDA, Department of the Interior (DOI) National Park Service (NPS), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other partners are working hard to fight invasive pests. But we can't do it alone. Please see USDA & USNPS TEACH INVASIVE PEST AWARENESS AT CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL at www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLkymj4_0GA USDA Photo by Lance Cheung. |
