| 説明 | This little gizmo is also called a ‘chain watcher’. Its function is to prevent the chain from dropping off the smallest front ring during a shift. This can happen if you are shifting and it’s quite bumpy. It can also happen if your front derailleur is not properly adjusted. Or, it can simply happen because you made a bad shift. In any event, if the chain drops off, it can get jammed between the crankset and the frame. At the very least, it can really scratch up the paint on your bike. If you are racing, it pretty much spoils your day, because you will have lost the group trying to get your chain back on.This one is as attached to my wife’s bike. I used to tease her about it, saying serious cyclists didn’t need one. Then, last year, I dropped my chain on at the foot of a big climb during the Mt. Mitchell ride. I was in the thick of the front group, and lost about 45 seconds desperately putting the chain back on the front ring. Fortunately, since it was a climb, I was able to drag myself back into the group before the top, but I really learned a lesson.Yes, I’ll be putting one on my bike before this years ride |
