| 説明 | "They have quite a custom there-I’ve read about it in Richard Harding Davis’s novels, but this was my first opportunity to observe it-of parading in the plaza after sun-down.About seven thirty the flower and chivalry of the entire town gather in the plaza and promenade to the music of the band. The girls walk on the inside, in a clockwise direction, and the maes stroll on the outside in a counter-clockwise direction. The chaperones, with which every young lady of good breeding is equipped, sear themselves on the benches, and see that the proprieties are preserved. Everything is apparently carried."From the Edward L. Parke Collection (COLL/5627) at the Archives Branch, Marine Corps History Division OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
