| 説明 | The Tornado on the Settle To Carlisle line near Kirkby Stephen.The Tornado was the first steam locomotive built in the UK since the 1960 Evening Star when it was launched in 2008.It can reach speeds of up to 100mph.Since its completion it has been undertaking heritage and passenger services around the country.The train has been brought in to provide two return services between Appleby, Cumbria, and Skipton, North Yorkshire, on 14, 15 and 16 February.Up to 500 rail enthusiasts will be taken on each trip on the train’s eight carriages.The use of Tornado is being used to mark the re-opening of the Settle-Carlisle line that was badly damaged following a 500,000-tonne landslip last February.It will be the first time a steam engine has operated on the track for 50 years. |
