説明 | (1 in a multiple picture album)Mt. Whitney is the tallest peak in the lower 48 states. It is often mistaken for the big peak on the left, which is Lone Pine Peak. Whitney is the tall peak in the middle behind the three spires. You can see the names of the other peaks in the third picture in this album. An interesting fluke of nature is that the peak lies about 80 miles away from the lowest point in the USA, in Death Valley. In this picture you can see three land forms. The green area in front is farming/ranching land. Behind it the red hills are part of the Alabama Hill region, once used to film Western movies.Behind it all is the majestic Sierra Nevada range of mountains. |
