| 説明 | Two A-10 Thunderbolts take off from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona. The aircraft fin in the foreground is on a rare Douglas B23 Dragon, a US WW2 bomber that didn't come up to scratch and only 38 were made.I was at Pima Air and Space Museum which is very close to the Air Force Base and is one of the most interesting air museums in the world. Unfortunately (for me) of the 200+ pictures that I took that day only a handful survive as the hard disk they were on failed before I backed them up. I'll just have to try and go back again, although it would be a long and costly trip - (but any excuse!)Davis-Monthan is the home of the famous "Boneyard" where thousands of de-commissioned military aircraft (and a few civilian ones too) lie awaiting either revival or cannibalisation for parts. Escorted tours are run every day from the Pima museum. For an aviation enthusiast both Pima and the Boneyard are unique und unforgettable places to visit. |
