| 説明 | "We were without water or lights for two days, the kitchen of our battalion was the only one able to function, we had but three days supplies, and the only road to Savannah blocked by fallen trees and washouts. I never could figure why they couldn’t ship supplies in by water, but they didn’t. Tuesday I labored with axe and cross cut saw, cleaning the way to Savannah. We worked from sun up until about three o’clock, the majority of the road being bordered on both sides by swamps, and the mosquitos that poured out of those marshes resembled some sort of pre-historic monster. Well this is about all I have time for. I’ll write soon and try to explain, as far as I can ascertain, this sudden exodus to Cuba. The idea is fairly good, but as usual the execution will be poo.Love, Ed"From the Edward L.
