| 説明 | This plot shows the relationship between Copper prices and WTI Oil prices from 2000 to 2016 in Euro. The numbers mark the beginnings of the years. With 0.84 the correlation coefficient is relatively high. Both prices are strongly correlated with the overall world economy.When the Oil price was below 30 € back in 2002 / 2004 Copper prices for one pound were below one Euro. Until 2012 oil prices rose above 70 € and copper prices to almost 3 Euros. In 2016 oil prices are comparatively low compared to copper prices. Shifts of technology (to renewables and fracking technology, etc) could lead to an exit of the traditional copper-oil relationship of the past, with oil prices being lower, but nothing is certain yet. |
