| 説明 | Hope this is clear. Too fascinating. SO small, 2" or so. It is the only human effigy with carvings all the way around.Front, seems extremely, extremely similar to Iroquois pictures we've found, and understand these are later. Not similar would be the layered robe. This is the third ( or 4th? ) apparel item with these layers of broad material ( assuming leather? ), over-lapping, all the way to the ground. The lines impressed on stone ( or clay, or some form of wood mache, or whatever this is ) are very clear in all these cases. Feathers seem clear although extra artwork tends to be added to a lot of effigies. In these, not as much, opinion only. This man seems to be quite full of items pertaining to his function or life. On one side is a clear, smaller effigy of an animal- like a raccoon or some similar animal, which we did NOT fill in. Delightfully, the dye remained.There may be a snake at his feet, it is so small, even a very sharp point does not clearly outline these lines. What on earth did they use? He also wears large ' balls ' in his hair, near his ear. We have seen these before in effigies before, too. Like many, many other human head effigies, there are wavy and pointed lines at the jaw line. Since Native Americans did not have facial hair, assuming part of the head dress?We have found large, polished quartz, round, and minerals here. This man seems to have something of uniform shape in the middle of his head dress. Other effigies have shown this. Wonder if this is what these were, ornaments of local beauty.Crazy cool. We cannot find apparel for this era ( whichever it might be ) Native American, in research articles. So far, seem to have quite a collection of ideas.Like around five other effigies, carved, tiny lines at the edges of robes seem to indicate fur was under some apparel but that is a guess, too. |
