| 説明 | This image dates to July of 2015. It shows the James Webb Telescope’s Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) with all four science instruments mounted to it, about to undergo vibration (sinusoidal sweep) testing at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This test simulates the vibrations it will encounter during launch on an Ariane V rocket. As the vibration facility is not a clean room, the ISIM is carefully bagged and purged for contamination control. After vibration testing, the ISIM returned to the clean room for optical metrology (looking for any vibration-induced shifts) and for a System Functional Test that will exercise the system and check its health and performance to the extent possible under ambient conditions. After vibration testing, it was on to acoustic testing, where the ISIM was exposed to the extreme sonic environment (143 dB total sound level) of an Ariane 5 rocket launch. There is B roll video of the vibration tests: svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/details.cgi?aid=11959Credit: NASA/Chris GunnNASA Image Use PolicyFollow us on TwitterLike us on FacebookSubscribe to our YouTube channelFollow us on Google PlusFollow us on Instagram |
