| 説明 | Jaguar Cars debuted in 1945. Bought Daimler in 1960. Daimler became an upscale trim level for Jaguar. Jaguar merged with BMC in 1966 and then with Leyland in 1968.The 1954-57 Jaguar D-Type was a sports racing car designed specifically to win the Le Mans 24-hour race, it shared the straight-6 XK engine and many mechanical components with its C-Type predecessor. Its structure, however, was radically different, with innovative monocoque construction and slippery aerodynamics.D-Types won the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1955, 1956 and 1957Once they had finished racing them, the remaining chassis were used for the street version, the XK SS. Total D-Type production is thought to have included 18 factory team cars, 53 customer cars, and 16 XK SS versions.Engine; 1954; 3442cc, 1957; 3781cc, 1958; 2997ccThis car was once owned by Steve McQueen, who painted the car green, polished the Dunlop wheels and had the interior retrimmed in black.Petersen Museum, Los Angeles |
