| 説明 | The iron ore around the ranges here is about 70% iron. BHP started mining the ore in 1899 and the town was developed from 1900. The ore is still mined for the steelworks at Whyalla but modern methods of open cut mining mean few people are employed in the mines today. Everything in the town is covered with a fine film of red iron ore dust. The town still has a hundred or so residents but no services, school or shop. Only a couple of churches and the sport facilities remain. |
