The area in front of it was the place where people had to accept punishment, usually whipping but sometimes they were beheaded. It was not a pleasent job and the pay was not great. To compensate the executioner had the right of running the local bordello business, it was in the house on the left side of this square.Szeroki Dunaj "Water gateway" is a short and wide street, almost like a small Square, and it also functioned as a market place in old days.The name originates from the no longer existing spring, Dunaj, which rose from this place. |
