説明 | Henry Spangler Farm – house, barn, summer kitchen, smokehouse, carriage house, stable & carriage shedHouse was built in 1820. Granite foundation, structure of log plank, brick and stone, with board and batten siding. Sits between West Confederate Avenue and the Emmitsburg Road, just in front of the line of trees where Pickett’s men formed for the charge on July 3rd.Summer kitchen dates to 1880; brick smokehouse is circa 1860s; carriage house is from the 1870s; stable and carriage shed is circa 1850s – 1860s.The bank barn is a 1935 replacement of the original, which burned during the battle due to artillery fire. It stands on the original granite foundation, and contains a corn crib and wagon shed. |
