| 説明 | The Mazda Electric Fountain, Victoria Gardens, Marlborough Place / Grand Parade, Brighton, East Sussex. The Fountain was given to the town of Brighton in 1930 by Thomson-Houston Ltd following an exhibition. (It has been speculated that the placement - near a cinema - was influenced by Thomson-Houston's involvement in one of several competing talking movie systems.) It was originally internally illuminated at night by colour changing lights. (More information can be seen at My Brighton and Hove.)The General Electric Company heavily promoted and licensed the Mazda light bulb brand, technology and fitting size to other companies in the hope of speeding market dominance. There was even an Edison Mazda / General Electric Mazda Lamp Calendar featuring the works of the artist Maxfield Parrish. |
