| 説明 | 1967 Rover/Alvis P6BSMid-engine Sports PrototypeWhen Rover took control of Alvis in 1965, plans were made to revive the Alvis car operation. It was decided that Rover would design a fast sports car which Alvis would assemble. The result was the P6BS project, developed by Spen King and Gordon Bashford almost as a spare-time project. The P6BS is perhaps one of the most practical mid-engined cars to have been designed. The Rover V8 engine was slightly offset to allow a single seat to be fitted in the back, there was ample boot space and good all-round visibility. The car is a 'P6' because it incorporates chassis and suspension features from the Rover 200 range, while 'BS' stands for 'Buick-engined Sports', since the V8 engine was originally a Buick design. The roof panels are removable, an idea later seen on many US sports cars.Sadly, the car is a one-off. The project was cancelled as part of a rationalisation programme after the British Leyland merger in 1968. This, the only prototype, survived intact.Engine: V8 cyl, 3528ccTop Speed: 140mph (225km/h)Power: 180bhpCoachwork: two door sports coupePrice New: not quotedRegistration Mark: NMT 395E |
