説明 | Monarch butterfly resting on a branch in the shoreline wetland forest during a storm over the weekend,Rondeau Provincial Park,10/9/2016Monarch butterflies have declined significantly in recent years due to a number of threats, including habitat loss and habitat destruction. Monarch butterflies are a species at risk in Ontario. Recently in Rondeau, to provide habitat rehabilitation and remove invasive phragmites, Rondeau sprayed a custom glyphosate herbicide throughout the park and long the Marsh Trail. Glyphosate has been a bone of significant contention, it is also known to kill milkweed - the host plant monarchs depend on.
