Most likely due to the ambulance being so new, it was decided to rebuild, and ironically this early near-death encounter may have helped it outlast most of the other ambulances of this batch...Retired in december 2015 (like the others), it was brought back into service the following year along with a few others, and while the others have gradually been withdrawn, this one remains in service by august 2018 - it probably had lower mileage than the others due to the time spent in repairs.The strange fleet numbers of ambulances and other rescue vehicles refer to their home bases - 3-17 was (is) the Aarhus Central station. If a vehicle was transfered from one station to another, this prefix would change accordingly, while the main 4-digit number remained as it was.Recently the prefix system has been phased out, so on new vehicles, there's only a 4-digit fleet number.Going up the steep hill leading sw out of Aarhus past Viby and Stautrup. In other words, the "retirement age" only shows the age, at which the truck stopped running on danish license plates. |
