説明1969 Hillman Super ImpWhilst the British Motor Corporation stole a march on the small car market in the shape of the Mini, Rootes was busily planning its own design for a little car. The Hillman Imp, emerging in 1963, four years after the Mini – couldn't have been more different.A traditional saloon car layout but with the engine at the rear, the Imp was developed by Tim Fry and Mike Parkes, who would later make his name as a successful racing driver and was a great friend of Mini designer Alec Issigonis. The engine was a lightweight, all-aluminium unit from Coventry Climax and the all-independent suspension was quite sophisticated for a small car.The produce the Imp, a brand new factory was erected at Linwood near Glasgow, opposite the Pressed Steel factory that would produce the bodies for the car. The Imp, however, never reached its full potential, suffering from under-development and the vagaries of the politics at Rootes Group and Chrysler. By 1976 and less than 500,000 cars later, the Imp was consigned to history. This Marina Green Imp was bought new from Ray Powell Motors in Essex by Mr Herbert Selleck and remained in his family until 2008. The Super specification, included extra exterior flashes, chrome wheel discs, twin tone horn and updated interior trim.Engine: 4cyl, 875ccTop Speed: 78mph (126km/h)Power: 42bhpCoachwork: saloonPrice New: £658Registration Mark: XYH 804G
