| 説明 | it is a detroit server from twp.nl, acutally off the shelf from supermicro. The engineering of 1U server is amazing. Note there is only one fan, besides the ones inside PSU and no fan on CPU heat cooler. I am really amazed the CPU Q6700(65 nM) can run without a fan and even the Segate disks stays cool in this 1U half deep case. The passive heat sink cluster.twp.nl/index.php?task=2&pid=SNK-P0002and MB supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon3000/3000/PDSMi+....I used to hate old 1U boxes which get extremely hot. Engineering has come long way in the past years, say 5-7 years. Never imagined a 500GB HD and 2.6G Hz quad core cpu will be so cool with little air at it. As an experiment I blocked the fan, which sits in centrifugal enclosure, the system ran fine. Actually after 4-5 minutes I got scared even though there was no sign from CPU or disk, and let the air flow. I thought may be the actual cpu gets too hot even though the exterior of heat sink is not too hot. Kudos to intel for the cool cpu. If 65nM cpu is so cool I can only wonder how great 45nM cpus would be. |
