| 説明 | Another look at the gorgeous illuminations around the periphery of the Swaraj Roundabout traffic rotunda. Traffic is blocked around the entire rotunda to allow the Trichur Pooram elephant parades. While I was not sure if this is a permanent structure or a temporary one made from bamboo and paper, I did learn however that such illuminated towers are called Poora Pandal. (literally translates as Pooram canopy/ tent). Crowds mill around the structure to gain a vantage point to watch the soon to begin festivities. (Trichur/ Thrissur, Kerala, India, Apr. 2016) |
