| 説明 | El primer document on es parla de l'església de Sant Esteve daten del 1079, si bé ja tenim referències del seu terme des de l'any 960. L'església actual correspon a una gran reforma feta en el segle XX, concretament al 1940 segons projectes de l'arquitecte català Josep Puig i Cadafalch, quan es va canviar l'orientació del temple i es va construir una nova nau. El temple romànic va quedar com una capella lateral.La part millor conservada és la capçalera, on es troba l'absis més gran de tot el romànic andorrà. També és el més ric pel que fa a la decoració escultòrica. Sota la teulada hi ha un fris de dents de serra. A sota d'aquest hi ha un fris d'arcs cecs, que es recolzen en petites mènsules esculpides amb motius geomètrics. En el mur nord s'obre una absidiola, que originàriament estava coberta amb pintures murals. Actualment es conserven en el Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya."The first document about the church of Sant Esteve is from 1079, but there are some references about it since 960.The present church is thanks to an important rebuilding in the 20th century (1940) according to the projects of the catalonian architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. In this project there is a change in the orientation of the church and the building of a new nave. Ther old romanesque temple become in a lateral chapel.The best preserved part of the church is the main apse, the biggest of all the Andorran Romanesque Architecture. It has the richest escultoric decoration. Under the roof there is a decoration based in the teeth of a saw. Under this there is a frieze with blocked arcs resting over a shelf with geometric decoration.In the north wall there is a small apse. Originally it had mural paintings. Currently they are in the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya." |
