説明 | Even I, a lactose intolerant vegan, found myself craning my neck backwards to read the brightly coloured poster on the roof of the bus today, only to find that it was a milk poster. No, I'm not bringing this up in Mission 24 to start an arguement about the validity of drinking milk, as I know this isn't the place for that discussion, but I do want to draw your attention to the propaganda-like nature of a lot of the advertisements we are surrounded by.In both Canada and the United States, the milk industries are kings of clever propaganda. Just think about it a moment, and you will realize how true it is. Their advertisements, in whatever form, are always so drawing. They have a knack for feel-good, bright, happy advertisements that makes you feel as though drinking milk must make you a part of some better society. You'll wear milk moustaches with the celebrities. You'll "grow always" with the artsy, or sporty, or well educated teenagers (I think this one's a Canadian commercial). You'll be able to overcome all of the social obstacles facing teens today (Canadian, again). Milk industries are very clever in how they tout their products as a better way of life, so much so, I think we sometimes forget that the goal of all these friendly advertisements is to sell a product. In the end, this did make for a funky picture, though. |
