説明 | The temperature scale is in degrees Fahrenheit.---------------------------------------Doublet Pool consists of two hot spring basins in the Geyser Hill Group of Yellowstone's Upper Geyser Basin. The eastern basin is ~7 x 5 meters in size with an off-center, irregularly-shaped vent. The western basin is irregularly-shaped and elongated - it's about 7.5 meters along the long axis and ranges from 1 to ~3.5 meters in width. The basins are connected by a narrow channel. The pool complex is bordered by highly-scalloped geyserite. Overflow drains in multiple directions, but most of it heads south, toward the Pump Geyser-Sponge Geyser area, and southwest, toward the North Goggles Geyser-Lion Complex area.Activity at Doublet Pool consists of regular subsurface thumping events. These can be heard and felt. Thumping is accompanied by noticeable sharp bouncing of the water level. Thumping events last about 5 to 6 minutes. Reported intervals (= thumping start to the next thumping start) in June 2024 ranged from 32 to 35 minutes.Doublet Pool is a geyser, but eruptions are rare. Most recently, eruptive activity was seen in 2018 and 2023. These eruptions consisted of boil-ups, bubble showers, or splashing a couple feet high.In 1998, researchers measured the water temperature of Doublet Pool at about 84 degrees Celsius, with a pH of about 8.9 (somewhat alkaline). |
