| 説明 | The old pier at North Kessock, replaced by a more modern one many years ago, still provided a transport function - as a turning area for the local buses which serve the village, as there is nowhere else in that narrow coastal strip for long vehicves to turn! The ferry which had plied for 5 centuries between North and south Kessock ceased when the adjacent Kessock Bridge opened in 1982. The Firth is an inlet of the Moray firth/North Sea, and separates the peninsula of the "Black Isle" from the City of Inverness.Today. the village of North Kessock is mainly a dormitory suburb of Inverness due to the ease of access via the Bridge. The two ferry piers at North Kessock remain as silent memorals to an earlier era.The peace and tranquility (and the views) from South Kessock, within the built-up area of the City of Inverness is lovely, with the waterfront providing a wonderful viewpoint of a vista which changes with the weather and state of the tide. |
