We’ve been waiting TEN YEARS to see this film and it’s actually in theaters… Okay so I saw this movie on Thursday night and I promised a review on Friday, but I’m going to be honest, when I got out of this movie, I was speechless. I really had to take some time to think it over before I put out my thoughts on the film. Don’t worry, this will be a NON SPOILER REVIEW. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you’re safe here. I have no other exposition or anything because I just want to get right to it. Let’s check out my thoughts on AVENGERS INFINITY WAR!Good: By far the greatest thing about this movie is Thanos. Thanos is by far the greatest villain in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and he’s probably my favorite comicbook movie villain behind The Joker in The Dark Knight. I’m so glad that we get to spend the most time with Thanos and he’s such a well fleshed out character. His base goal is vastly different for his in the comics, but I honestly don’t care because you sympathise with this character anyways. There are times in this movie that when Thanos felt relief, I kinda did too and that’s FUCKED UP. His CGI looked great, there were time where we get closeups of his face and you could see like hairs on his head, and it kinda disturbed me because of how real he looked. I also noticed that his CGI looked the best was whenever it was an emotional moment with him, which it why I found him a sympathetic villain! He also has a very emotional arc with Gamora in this movie, which was excellent. My second favorite character in this movie was Doctor Strange. I liked Doctor Strange before this movie but now after seeing it, he’s probably in my top 3 Marvel Heroes EVER. He has great chemistry with Tony Stark and he sorta is like playing a chess game with Thanos throughout the film, it was just brilliant. We also get to see more of his powers and they were insane! Another character that I found surprisingly cool was Ebony Maw. He was definitely the best of the Black Order, but he was also very creepy in terms of his devote loyalty to Thanos and his cause. His powers were very cool too. Now I’m not going to go through every character in this movie so I’ll just list off a few more of my favorites: Thor, Star Lord, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Vision, and Rocket Raccoon. The majority of the Avengers and Guardians don’t have much to do in this movie, but that didn’t take away much for me because I really saw this movie as a Thanos standalone with the Avengers as just supporting characters. Okay, now that we broke down the characters, let’s get to the action. Now where I don’t believe that the action in this movie topped some of the sequences in Captain America: Civil War, it was incredible. The action in Wakanda truly felt like a war, but my favorite sequence has to be on Titan with Thanos. Those scenes just felt straight out of the ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ storyline in terms of the action, it was nuts. Okay, I’m not going to get into the story or anything because I think it’s best going into this movie knowing little as possible, but the base storyline is very simple, but executed so well because of the character interactions and action. This film didn’t feel like a movie to me, it was an experience. There is so much stuff that goes down in this movie that by the time you leave the theater you will be as speechless as I was when I first saw it. The last thing I want to touch on is the great score by Alan Silvestri. I’m going to have to listen to it more, but it’s sounded so cool paired with the movie, that it might turn out to be one of my favorite MCU scores. The song that plays when Spider-Man’s on the school bus is probably my favorite.Bad: I honestly have nothing bad to say about this movie currently, but maybe after multiple viewing I’ll find stuff, or maybe I won’t!Overall, Avengers: Infinity War is probably the best time I’ve ever had at a movie theater and I think the only movie that will be able to top it is Avengers 4. When people like my parents tell me about the first time they saw The Empire Strikes back for the first time in theaters, I don’t really understand what they had to go through seeing that I could’ve just watched Return of the Jedi right after. But with Infinity War, I feel like I finally know what it was like to see The Empire Strikes Back in theaters for the first time. I’m never going to forget the emotions that I felt during the first time I experienced this film, and for that, I’m going to give Avengers: Infinity War a perfect 10/10.
