| 説明 | Out with Joy today on a fine sunny morning walk. We drove up to the Wynyard Country Park and then walked south to the old and easy village of Thorpe Thelwes and on to enjoy a five mile tramp round field-edge paths linking the villages of Stillington & Whitton. Tea was taken at The Vane Arms and as we headed back up the lane to the Wynyard carpark I spotted about a dozen Bee Orchids spread along the roadside verge. They are officially described as 'rare in the north' so we were quite chuffed to find them. The orchid is so-named as it is usually pollinated by a wandering male bee; sadly confusing the flower with the inviting derriere of a willing mate. Needless to say the error is soon apparent though it would be churlish to scoff as most of us will have suffered similar embarrassments at one time or another. |
