| 説明 | This monument to Marshal Zhukov can be seen in front of the entrance to the State Historical Museum, which is from the Manege Square.Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov was one of the most successful military commanders during World War Two and was crucial in defining a strategy for and leading the Soviet Russian troops to liberate the Soviet Union from German troops. After the war ended he was the Supreme miliary leader and so popular that Stalin, always paranoid and scared of potential rivals, had him removed from power and posted to faraway Odessa Military District. Only after the dictator's death, in 1953, was Zhukov brought back to Moscow and returned to power as Minister of Defense. |
