| 説明 | Native, yearlong-green, perennial, slender and tufted to mat-forming grass, to 60 cm tall and with short, slender rhizomes. Leaf tips are usually notched and small hairy auricles occur at the base of the leaf. Flowerheads are narrow panicles or racemes, to 15 cm long and weeping at flowering. Spikelet are green and 3-flowered; the 2 lower florets each with a straight green awn and glumes reduced to minute scales. Flowering is from spring to autumn. Found in many habitats. Very tolerant of acid soils, exchangeable aluminiumand drought. Native biodiversity. Seeds can damage eyes and mouths of stock and dogs, and contaminate fleece. Capable of year-round growth and provides high quality, palatable feed; especially in shadier, moisterareas. Yields vary from 1.5 t/ha/yr in low fertility situations to as much as 7 t/ha/yr with improved soil fertility and moisture and the use of legumes. Responds well to moderate to heavy grazing andneeds to be kept short to maintain palatability. Use strategic rests to allow plants to set seed in spring and/or autumn. |
