| 説明 | click here to View On BlackThis is sweet Harley.A natural born therapy dog and angel on earth, little Harley must have been terribly abused and neglected. On my way to a dog show, I found her running around in terror on a desolate road in the woods where she apparently had been dumped. She was filthy, matted, had all sorts of parasites and was terribly ill. I did not think twice and stopped and it took quite a while but I coaxed her to me and eventually caught her and put her on the seat beside me and continued on to the show. Myka, being the queen that she is, sat in the back seat in the far corner, glaring at Harley with a "What is THAT THING doing in MY car" look on her face. We arrived very late to the show, very frazzled I ran to the ring with an equally frazzled and totally ungroomed Myka and lost, but returned home with Harely in tow, expecting to foster and place her through the rescue I volunteer with. As you can see, she made a wonderful recovery and is happy and healthy now!Harley was very skittish and it took a long time for her to relax and trust. For example, even if we just shifted in our chairs, she would jump up and run! She also was scared to come in and out of the back door and it took a lot of coaxing to simply get her to walk past you while you held the door open. She still has moments where she seems to have flashbacks and does the same things, but rarely now. Harley and my mom bonded instantly so she quickly found her forever home here. Harley came into our lives right when mom became very ill and could no longer do much and had to spend most of her time in bed or just sitting in her chair (a heaven-sent canine angel?) , and so she was blessed with a little brown dog who never left her side. If mom was in her chair, Harley was on her lap. If mom was in bed, Harely was snuggled beside her. If mom was eating, Harely was at her side. And at the hospice, Harely was there the entire time and did not even want to leave her to go outside to potty. She was snuggled with her on the bed beside her when she passed. Mom passed on in March of 2007 and after that she then became my Dad's constant companion until he passed in July of 2008. I believe Harley was meant to come into our lives when she did and she provided endless comfort to both my parents. I was worried that when both of them passed, that Harley would leave too, with her work here being done. But I am so thankful I still have her to hold when I am missing mom and dad. We call her Harley-WOW! because of a silly sound she makes when she's happy. :) |
