| 説明 | The Pirate ShipFrom out of darkly cove she crept, with all her cloth hung white,looking for a western breeze, she seemed a ghostly sight.The pilot cursed while at the wheel, sure the rocks would tell,the devil in his handiwork had locked the harbour well.The moon behind the clouds awhile, in shadow, then grey-flecked,palms pressed behind his back, the captain paced the deck.The men o’ war at harbor mouth watched the darkness close,one pirate ship and four of them, a game of cat and mouse.The fortress on the crest of stone loomed black against the sky,on parapets the guards rolled bones, now, slip past greedy eyes.The wood began an awful creak, the ship in leeward lean,a tidal swell splashed on the deck and washed the sailors clean.The captain muttered something low, the pilot cursed the sea,the hull it scraped the bottom, then, slid off finally free.The moon had slipped from the clouds to watch the final dance,a man o’war had sighted then and canon fire commenced.Like things alive the sails caught wind and billowed full and free,the pirate ship leapt ahead and raced into the sea.The crew gave forth a loudly cheer, and scurried up the ropes,the pilot wiped his brow of sweat, the captain had his hopes.A man o’ war turned about and tried to catch the wind,its guns roared a final round, then ceased their angry din.The pirate ship was light and fast, the Spaniard’s only gleamed,and bristled guns and finery to fill a pirate’s dreams. |
