| 説明 | The parish church was founded in 717 AD on this site and subsequently burnt down at least once. The Saxon church was enlarged and subsequently rebuilt about 1200 and further enlarged. A whole central heating system was installed in 1850 and the crypt was "reorganised" to accommodate all the pipework. It is rumoured that Dukes of Northumberland with their coronets are buried here. It is still possible to access a very small part of the original crypt, but it is not open to the public. |
