| 説明 | A strong thunderstorm went through the area and hit the farm with some hail. The hail did some significant damage to the crops, but we will recover from it.Lots of bruises on stems and fruit (see next photo) from hailstones. We probably will lose half of our early tomatoes. The plants will recover and we will have a crop, just not as early as we had hoped.Hail is a real problem to farms and orchards. There's no way to protect crops against it. We fared better than some. One farmer had all his tomato plants completely stripped of leaves and most of the branches broken. His plants will be set back at least 6 weeks if they survive.Fortunately, this is only about the second time in 20 years that we've had a problem with it, so it doesn't occur that frequently around here. |
