| 説明 | I live in Dublin but if I walk a short distance in any direction I am find myself in Dublin 7 but I always thought that this building was in Dublin 1.This covered market was built to house the Corporation Wholesale Markets. The original design was by City Engineer Parke Neville. The roof spans East to West across gabled ranges, in structural ironwork with North-light glazing, and the facades are mostly in red brick, with yellow brick lining the arches providing contrast in patterned blocks. Back in 2013 it was announced that the Victorian fruit and vegetable market in Dublin’s north inner city was redeveloped as a continental-style food market. Five years later there is little sign of any changes.Dublin City Council has been trying for over a decade to open a market for food entrepreneurs on the site but agreements still need to be worked out with the remaining wholesale tenants. There are ten of the 46 original stands left. When I was young the market sold directly directly to customers but now supplies to restaurants and other commercial customers. |
