説明 | ( Large view HERE ) Navarathri festival is celebrated in temples and homes for nine days in the Tamil month of Purattasi starting from the day after the new moon day.Dolls of deities and other artistic dolls are displayed in ascending set of rows in houses and temples.This is called 'Golu'.Friends and relatives are invited and honoured with presents.Special dishes known as "sundal' is prepared daily with a variety of pulses and grams and are distributed to all.These days are considered as days of giving charity to the poor and less fortunate.This festival is celebrated as 'Dusserah' in Karnataka and as 'Durga Pooja' in West Bengal in India.In this picture, painted dolls ,mostly made out of clay are on display.Nowadays all sorts of dolls are kept in the 'Golu' |
