Eventually, it was constructed in a slightly changed shape no sooner than in spring 1944, shortly before the arrival of Hungarian Jews in May.Trains transporting people deported by Germans to Auschwitz stopped near the ca. 750 m long ramp. In the middle of the ramp, SS doctors carried out the selection of the newly arrived. The healthy and strong ones were registered in the camp, and those deemed unable to work were killed in gas chambers immediately upon arrival.panorama.auschwitz.org |
