| 説明 | Roger Touhy was a prohibition-era bootlegger and Al Capone rival. In an effort to take over Touhy's business, Capone and John "Jake the Barber" Factor, brother of cosmetic giant Max Factor, plotted the fake kidnapping of Factor. On December 29, 1933 the FBI, supervised by J. Edgar Hoover himself, raided the house pictured here. Touhy and two other men surrendered. A sham trial was held in which Touhy was convicted for the Factor "kidnapping." Over 25 years later on November 24, 1959, Touhy was freed on parole, the kidnapping having been declared a hoax. Two days later, he was shot dead by the mob.Located at 5116 N. Kenmore. |
