| 説明 | Charlton's origins go back to its position on the Avoca River. An inn opened here in 1863 for the travellers going north to the Mildura region. In 1867 a bridge was built across the Avoca River and the town of Avoca was surveyed. Its early buildings included a Presbyterian Church built in 1871, a Methodist Church built in 1874 followed by a Catholic Church in 1875 and an Anglican Church in 1876. By the 1870s that town had two flourmills, several hotels, etc. The old Courthouse was built in 1882 and the Institute which is now the Golden Grain Museum was built in 1883. |
