| 説明 | I was trying to find an alternate route back towards Shrewsbury Station.Then I saw this bridge.Looks similar to the bridge I saw on the other side of Shrewsbury Town Centre.It is called the English Bridge.I took a path to the right, and down to the path alongside the river. To get back to the station, I followed the path under the bridge towards the next exit.The English Bridge is Grade II* listed.English Bridge at Sj 496 123, Shrewsbury SHREWSBURY SJ4912SE English Bridge at SJ 496 123 653-1/16/1 10/01/53 GV II* Bridge over River Severn. 1769, rebuilt 1926. Original design by John Gwynn. Ashlar. 7-arch span, with pilasters and cutwaters between the arches. Rusticated voussoirs to shallow segmental arches, and stressed keystones with shell motifs. Central arch emphasised with dolphins carved on the cutwaters, and a head of Neptune on the keystone. Balustraded parapet with solid panels over each pilaster carrying ball finials, and over the centres of the arches, carrying cast-iron lamp standards. Central panel has pediment, with date and Salop arms on outer face, inscribed with details of construction and reconstruction on inner face.
