| 説明 | i just ran across this card. on the day in question, a friend and i had reservations at ano nuevo. it had been sketchy weather for most of the week and we were unsure of how the day would turn out when it finally arrived.we decided to go, even though the sky was rather sinister. we drove through on and off rains; some light, some very heavy. we didn't realize that the heavier ones were actually producing thunder and lightening.one of the few occasions when ano nuevo will close is when there is ground contact by lightening. when we arrived all was well - a bit windy, a bit of drizzle, a definite chill in the air. otherwise, all seemed fine - we had found "the" hole in the storm! how fortunate for us.as our group's time grew near the sky opened up and the storm vented. very hard rain and very windy - coupled with thunder - and, you guessed it, lightening. the rangers canceled and gave the group the option of alternate dates and times. being somewhat local we took the option and headed back to the truck.since we'd already come this far we decided to head to santa cruz to pick up a cake for the wife of my friend - at her favorite bakery. being guys we also unanimously voted that it was a good opportunity to eat as well - they have very nice sandwiches.as we headed back home the sky started showing signs of clearing. we were lucky enough to have hit one of these moments of clearing at waddell creek, just at sunset...viola... |
