| 説明 | I had a sepia version of this shot that didn't turn out so hot... maybe I'll post it someday. Kumano Hongu, as I might have mentioned before, is one of three of Kumano Grand Shrines which are the head shrines of all the Kumano shrines in Japan. Together they are refered to as Kumano Sanzan （熊野三山）, The Three Kumano Mountains, the other two being Kumano Nachi, and Kumano Hatayama. The Kumano Religion, while Shinto, is one of the more profound aspects of Japanese culture, as it may be the oldest that blurred the lines between Shinto and Buddhism, considering the Nature gods of Japan to be incarnate Buddhas. Also Christians will fine familiarity as the Kumano Sanzan god is a triune, each shrine dedicated to a different aspect of the god. |
