Tim works at a Hollywood talent agency and one day meets Julie, a British actress making a movie in the States. He falls in love and eventually wins her heart. Only problem is, Julie soon must return to England.Shortly after Julie returns to England, Tim's brother, Gene, a photographer, asks Tim to help re-create some photos he has taken of the Haight-Ashbury scene. An agency has bought the photo series but through a mishap, the photos are ruined. Tim poses as a "Hippie," long hair and all.The photos are a success but with a hitch: the agency in England is especially interested in the "girl" in the photos. Seems Tim has been mistaken for a girl whose looks are so far out of the norm for a model, she's seen as "The Next Big Thing." A substantial offer is made to secure this "girl" for the modeling agency. Opportunity knocks.Tim takes the offer, thinking he'll go to England and make enough money as this unlikely "model" just so he can be with Julie. It was supposed to be only for a couple weeks...Because Tim's brother, Gene, racks up a huge gambling debt, Tim agrees to play out the role of the model "Timmie" until the debt is paid off. Thus, the kookiest, craziest love affair ever becomes a sitcom. There are a few episodes on YouTube, and the show is not a bad way to spend a half hour. Peter Kastner has a good flair for comedy. Watching Patricia Brake as Julie, you could easily imagine any guy going to the lengths Tim does to be with her. Julie lends support and often bales Tim and his brother Gene out of trouble whenever "Timmie" seems dangerously close to being exposed as actually being Tim.The show isn't that much of a stretch from a show that became much more popular in the 70's: "Bosom Buddies." In that show, Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari dress as women to score affordable housing. In "The Ugliest Girl In Town," Peter Kastner dresses as a woman for the sake of love. What some guys will do for love! |
