| 説明 | i headed straight for the rothko room (as usual). i am so completely, totally & utterly in love with the Seagram Murals. i can't begin to express what Rothko's work does to me or how. or why. it (or it's effect on me) is completely unique. i think being moved so, so deeply & strangely triggers or pokes a very well hidden, silent, sleeping dragon that is bipolarity or some kind of mania. you FEEL art like this. you can sense mark stepping to & from the painting. changing this, hiding that. it's alive. it remembers. it 'knows'. your bones ache & move. alone. you want to laugh, cry. step 'into' the painting. there is a way. there must be. it's a portal. maybe next time...i 'found' rothko through barnett newman. you know when you a friend introduces you to one of their friends, and you look back months/years later to find you've grown so much closer to the latter than the former? barnett-bobcat-mark. anyway.... i was surprised when i realised i'd been there for over an hour. at one point i was all alone in the room. for a whole 40 seconds. i think it may have been the first time that's ever happened. there are lots of things 'wrong' with the world, but i can't help be amazed and moved by how lucky we are that we can sit alone & interact 1-1 with such great objects, statements & minds.made my wkend... i'll never forget that moment.... thank you 'world'. |
