| 説明 | One thing that can wreck my head is "Irish heads" who will only speak Irish at the expense of all else. The par excellence of this was an Irish trivia night when I was accompanied by a French person, an Italian and some one from Czech, even though I had no excuse for not understanding what was going on, they made no exception for the foreigners in the crowd, even after they had been told.That is why I find the whole "Dingle row" so interesting. As a Gaeltacht region to qualify for some weird grants they had to only refer to the region by the Irish name only, which is "An Daingean". As a result every road sign that had dingle listed has been painted over to remove the anglicised version "Dingle".While it is nice, as nation to reclaim some history it completely ignores the present day reality that tourism is Dingle and Kerry's bread and butter and removing Dingle from road signs only confuses. Which is why I was delighted to find out that some saner heads have gone out and repainted Dingle onto a pant's load of road signs, I had to make sure I got at least one example...There is a bit more detail on the wikipedia link for Dingle :Wikipedia - Dingle |
