| 説明 | The forecourt of Wuppertal's Vohwinkel railroad station is bordered by a large retaining wall. This wall feautures five wide alcoves which were concealed behind wooden booths for some decades. When the makeshift shops were dismantled the niches became accesible again. Artist Eckehard Lowisch (*1966) had the idea to place a marble sculpture in each of these alcoves. He created these abstract works exclusively for the place. I find the contrast between the smooth and elegant surfaces of the sculptures and the harsh and weathered surroundings very interesting (and photographically inspiring). |
